Hey Everybody! Another month down! Here it is March already... Man, time just keeps getting faster and faster (except when you're stuck on the 205... Then it goes much slower. :) ). Last month was an exciting time for the Star Wars community! EJP takes the tournament scene by storm with it's awesome Profit and Vile Court decks. We also had our Grand Slam Tournament Event. The Grand Slam saw pretty much all of the powerhouses in the Star Wars CCG community (a lot of big names were there). Unfortunately, I think this caused a lot of players to miss out. I had heard that there were a lot of tournaments that weekend that had good turnouts because many of the players knew they wouldn't have to face the stiff competition the Grand Slam touted. As far as the Event being run, things went reletively smoothly. There was a timing issue where the Website and Myself didn't quite jyve. We also had a score keeping problem that took about a half an hour to fix. However, the high points far outstripped these lows. I got to see a lot of really awesome Star Wars players duking it out for a truly incredible prize package! The humorous point of the day was feeding Thad Aid's Reflections addiction. >> The Alderaan Express<< By now, many of you have received a pleasent surprise in the mail box. This surprise come in the form of a Monthly newsletter called The Alderaan Express. This newsletter is the snail mail, colorful version of these Galactic Updates. They'll also have a card review and a deck design in addition to tournament event dates and recent news. The purpose of these is to keep all of you informed of what's going on in the Star Wars and Young Jedi community. It's mainly for those who don't have Internet access and can't get these update like you. If you haven't received one or know of someone who'd like to get one. Please contact me and I'll set it up. >> State Championships<< For those of you who think you've got what it takes to be the TOP DOG in California, the California Star Wars and Young Jedi State Championships are on April 15th. This event will be held at Neutral Ground in Mountain View (the same place as the Grand Slam). The Star Wars tournament will be 6 games and it will start at 11:00am (for sure this time!). I will be directing this bad boy! The Young Jedi Tournament, directed by Chris Donati, will be 6 games as well and it's slated to start at 6:00pm. The entrance fee for these two events will be $5.00 each. Only California residents will be allowed to play in this shin-ding... Make sure you have some sort of ID on you. I'll be checking (no fake ID's Clayton!). The winner and runner-up of this event gets the 1st day off in the North American Continental Championship at GenCon in Milwaukee. >> Regional Championship<< August 26th will be the date of this year's Regional Shootout for the chance to go to the World Championship. It will be held in Santa Barbara, CA. Details are still in the works as to where and when. The winner and runner-up of this event gets to take the 1st day off at the World Championships at DecipherCon 2000 in Norfolk, VA. I'll keep all of you up-to-date on what's gonna happen with this. >> Lightsaber Tournament<< My recent move has caused me to postpone the Lightsaber Tournament once again. But, FEAR NOT! There shall be a Lightsaber Tournament. I will keep all of you informed as to the details of this event when they transpire! >> Other Tournaments<< Here's the listing of the bucket-load of tournaments that are happening in the area. To meet this challenge, I will be hosting three demos nights this month. These will be tentively set at Great Escape Game (916) 927-0810 on Fridays Mar 17th, 24th and 31st. These are Young Jedi demos, so, if you know of anyone interested in learning how to play Young Jedi, send 'em my way. I also encourage each of you to try to bring along a new player and teach them how to play these great games. The more players there are the funner our tournament scene will be. There's nothing cooler, than to have friends play in tournament with you! Well, that's it for now, everyone! I hope to be getting my website up to snuff here really soon... I'm really sorry for it's horrid state right now. MS Frontpage isn't as easy as I thought it'd be... :( "Stay in Attack Formation!"
